Description
Architecture
In the midst of the mature landscape of the palace park, a rigid, right-angled building was not allowed to be created, so architect Heine chose the ground plan form of an ellipse. The building materials are appropriate for the time: the vaulted ceiling and the supporting columns were cast from concrete, steel-blue and white sand-lime bricks were used for the outer wall. The interior walls are not plastered, but clad with warm red honeycomb bricks fired in different colours. The narrow windows on the sides concentrate the light on the chancel. The church has about 750 seats and over 1000 standing places. All in all, this church is not only an artistically valuable building, but also a worthy sacred space.
Organ and bells
The organ, built in 1970 by the Klais company from Bonn, has 25 stops with a mechanical action. The large church tower stands somewhat apart, housing the ringing with four bells. The notes E-flat, F, B-flat and G are in harmony with the ringing of the Protestant church.
